shipping/insurance for a plasma

The cost of shipping and insurance for a 42" plasma is about $150 - $165 and a 50" is about $170 - $185. That's from the reputable vendors.

>>>With delivery fees that high, it's the equal of paying local sales tax from buying it from a local brick and mortar.<<<

Even if shipping charges = tax, you still come out ahead. You save many hundreds to many thousands by using an online vendor in the area of price.

You have to factor in the price of the plasma from an online vendor vs a local store when you calculate taxes. Best Buy sells a 50" Pioneer for $9999. Tax in my area is 8.75% and that equates to $875. I can get the same model online for <$6500. If shipping was actually $225, I'd save $650 before I factored in the price difference.

Of course, that's just one example and it's for a 50" model. If you bought a 42" at $3000 from a local store and your taxes were only 6%, that would put you at $180 vs $150 - $165 shipping from the online vendor. That might make a difference depending on what manufacturers you have to choose from for that $3000 price. Daewoo at $3000 is not equal to Panasonic at $3000.

>>>Then I don't have to deal with shipping damage.<<<

Do you live at the store? If not, how's it going to get to your house?
