HD Direct TV + DVR - Do the 2 boxes play well together?

Seasons Greetings!! Hearing rumors DTV is coming out w/ an HD box w/ DVR in 04, but not being a patient man, I want both now. Will a std. dtv dvr box and the dtv HD box play well together? I assume the DVR won't record in HD, but I'm trying to figure out if I can hook up both boxes at the same time w/o too much pain. DTV was zero help on the phone. My DLP inputs/outputs are below. Thanks much for any help!!
