I can't speak for the Rotel or how it compares to the B&K.What I can say is that I have owned a B&K Ref 10 since about the first week they came out and I think that B&K makes a great product. If I were looking to upgrade my HT Pre I would go out and buy a Ref 50 without hesitation. My unit is built like a tank. Plenty of Digital/Analog ins and outs. The sound is phenominal. Plus B&K just lowered the price of the Ref 50 to $2,000!!!! Lots of people purchased this thing for a lot more than that.
