I agree with dennzio...$5000 for both a plasma & receiver leaves very little room to choose. While plasma TVs have become cheaper, I have read that they will continue to go down in price this year (about 40% it is claimed). Some of the least expensive plasmas are NOT high definition and the picture quality is poor. Better to move up market and get the best you can afford. Better yet, look at another more mature technology.

In terms of receivers, I would suggest Rotel, B&K, Outlaw, NAD. They cover a range of prices, but all tend to be "musical" and can handle movies with ease.
