Anybody tried AVT-3800 video scaler or other similarly priced scalers?

I've got an older LCD projector that is capable of pretty high resolution
Native: 1280x1024 Pixels
Maximum: 1280x1024 Pixels
Aspect Ratio: 5:4 (SXGA)
What I want to do is scale DVD's and other sources to the higher resolution and line doubling/progressive scanning at the same time.
Any input apppreciated
