I have it narrowed but need a little advice

I have narrowed it down to one of the following RPTV's. The Panasonic is only 70 dollars cheaper. At circuit city until saturday then the sale ends. To me the viewing angle of the sony wan't as good as the Panasonic. From what I have read reviews on both are excellent. My only real worry is that when I look up the Pan it says it handles 480p and 1080i. The Sony will handle 480p,720p, and also 1080i. Should this affect my decision or should it matter at all due to the fact the HD reciever from the cable company will do the decoding. What about DVD? Any help is appreciated.
