Toshiba SD-2800 won't open

I have a SD-2800 which won't eject the tray.
All other functions work fine including the tray closing, but once closed, it stays shut and open/close from the front panel or remote won't open it.
I have it apart now and can open it manually by moving a latching plate under the transport.
Any ideas what might be malfunctioning?
