best $300 sub? Hsu STF-1, Rocket ELT SW-10, Definitive Tech PS80?

I am helping my father add a couple pieces as he has just acquired his first dvd player. This will be his first sub, and would like to stay in the $300-350 range. I know that doesn't usually buy a whole lot, but a few manufactures seem to build something of quality at that price point now.
Both the Hsu STF-1 and Rocket ELT SW-10 appear to have a much more substantial cabinet that the typical $300 sub found at consumer electronic stores.
I listened to the Definitive Technology PS80 and, depsite it's cheap feeling cabinet, actually delivered good performance, at least in the context of the demo room.
Are there others I'm missing? Is the Velodyne CHT8 in the same league as the first two?
