please help me out............whats the story w my tv and high def?????

i have a sonykp-53 HS 30 rptv. the manual states that it accepts 1080i, 720p, and 480i,480p digital tv formats for dtv. it has progressive scan inputs. i get the local cable co out here to install digital cable w hdtv. they used a rec'r box manf. by a co called 'pace'. the set would not accept a signal from the rec'r box to the progressive scan, component inputs. i got audio, but no video. i got a video signal w a composite video connection but again, not fr the component inputs and no high def. the component inputs work fine w dvd, but not w the digital rec'r box. any ideas? can the set accept high def component inputs? thanks in advance.
