Home Video Asylum

TVs, VCRs, DVD players, Home Theater systems and more.

I've had Samsung and Panasonic.

I prefer the Samsung because the Panasonic was a bit confusing to operate via the remote. Also, on some of these players you can get progressive scan out of the component video jacks for DVD playback (nice) but for VHS playback you'll need to use the SVIDEO or RCA composite jack.... or use just the SVIDEO or composite for both DVD and VHS. Not sure if progressive scan is important to you but some of the lower-end models may not have it.

My parents now have the Samsung unit as it is easier for them to operate.
