Infocus LP 720 video signal problem

I picked up an Infocus Lightpro 720 LCD projector at a local auction as an entree into video projectors. It powers up and has only 400 hours on the clock. Anyway tried it out with a DVD player using a svideo cable and it worked fine for about half an hour after which the picture initially went fuzzy and then to background colour. Sound stayed on a while but then went intermittent.
Tried the menu functions and they worked fine. Have not been able to try it with a computer yet as the cablewizard was missing. Have lined one up and will try that as soon as it arrives.
Checked the filter on the cooling system and it looked fine.
Suspect a problem in video input signal line or the Svideo socket but would appreciate any tips on what to look for.
