HD? DVD?

You're going to have to wait for the next blue laser format for HD on an optical disc (Blu-Ray and HD-DVD in 2005/2006).

Other than Microsoft's VC-9 material for computers, there's no HD content on DVDs. There are some stand-alone DVD players that can upconvert the 480i DVD picture to the 1080i or 720p formats. It does look a bit better than the 480p format, but it's not true HD quality.

Do you have an HD tuner? If not, LG is offering a combination HD tuner/DVD player. The DVD player will also upconvert to the 1080i and 720p format if you desire. Best Buy's price is $399, but you may find it cheaper elsewhere. If this seems like a possible option, I'd do some reading on the video forums to get an idea of the picture quality before purchasing.
