Sony DVP-7700 & Sharp 26 LCD

Vid-philes,

I have a Sharp LCD 26GA4U and an older Sony DVP-7700. Where does this DVD player stack up against todays players?

If it's not on par with low-mid-fi DVD players, then thinking of upgrading to the Denon 2910 or 3910...
