TEA9000ES Firmware Upgrade Problem

I have tried a few times to upgrade my TAE9000ES to 1.10C
using the program from the SOny web site. When the software
attempts to start communication, the preamp goes into standby
mode and communication fails. Any ideas? If I take out my
null modem adapter communication fails.
