I've not been terribly impressed with music on DVD lately but we looked ay the RM Arts DVD of Janacek's opera "The Cunning Little Vixen" last night and we were all most impressed.
The audio is fine (using an external DAC) and the video excellent (HDTV originally). It is as much a ballet as an opera with stunningly colourful costumes. This production is excellent all round - visually, artistically & musically. The opera itself is quite palatable and is about as far away from trad. romantic stuff as you can get without being brash and dissonent "modern" music. An interesting story line with plenty of humour by the principals. They obviously enjoyed being involved with this recording.
Highly recommended.
