Direct TV and Dish Network

155.104.244.16

I am looking into a satellite system for my HT. I have cable now and the quality is getting worse every day, because I live in a growing area and the hookups are increasing. The cable company refuses to do anything about their quality. After some web searches I have not gotten anywhere with a direct quality comparison for Direct TV and Dish network. (I cannot have C band because the dishes are too large for community rules.) The one thing that I think I have determined is that there are no channels for the United Paramount Network (UPN)on Direct TV. This is a must because my wife will not miss Star Trek EVER.

What are your experiences with quality for the two providers/hardware sets?

What equipment would you recommend for the small dishes?

I can figure out the dish network items like the 7222 player which acts much like a TIVO and the JVC D-VHS unit. Does hardware for Direct TV exist with the time shift or recording capabilities?

Thanks in advance. Jerry Koth
