The Question about Optical EQ/Booster

24.66.126.35

Bad news. Not only would you not be able to get the full 5.1 channel mix, you would adversely effect the Dolby Surround decoding if you attempted to insert the EQ between the analog outputs of your DVD player and the analog inputs of your receiver. Even if you could get an EQ unit that worked in the digital domain it would not recognize the Dolby Digital encoded signal from your DVD player. The only way to do this correctly would be to use a separate Dolby Digital decoder and insert 6 channels of EQ between it and six channels of amplification (post decode). Some receiver have "break-out" loops between the output of there internal Dolby Digital decoders and there amplifier stages, but these are few and far between.
