Re: Masters in HDTV?

216.158.7.57

***CBS is advertising that the Masters will be broadcast in HDTV "where available". Where exactly would that be? I recently purchased an HDTV-ready TV, but was under the impression that I wouldn't be enjoying HDTV anytime soon.

Depending upon where you live, you might be able to receive few stations today, with several hours of HDTV broadcast every day. You will need a good UHF antenna and a set-top box, of course. It seems, however, that now is not a good time to buy such box - wait for the new generation to appear soon.

You will need to figure out the locations of transmitters and their channels - these will most likely be some of the previously unoccupied UHF ones. If you are within say, 20 miles or so, you have a good shot. Sometimes you can receive as far as 50 miles or so, but that really depends on the landscape around you.
