R F Modulators, Converting?

Does anyone know if it's possible / practical to modify a channel 3 / 4 RF modulator to transmit on other channels? I have basic component level electronics knowlege but know nothing about RF. I am willing to experiment if someone can guide me. I can't find any info on building an RF modulator. Does anyone have a schematic?
