Pioneer Elite VSX-26TX

209.176.105.38

I'm looking into a Pioneer Elite VSX-26TX. I'm exchanging/upgrading a Yamaha 995, that's defective. My dealer's great and has me as a lifetime customer. I do prefer the Yamaha sound over Denons. The Dealer stated the Elite has a sound that's in between the 2. Yamaha and Denon sound are the most to my liking, as I can't stand the darker, compressed sound of others. I'm thinking this Elite will do nicely. I'm not going with Denon, because in their mission to out bell and whistle everyone, with stupid 8 ch. ins, component inputs that can't even use HD signals, and outputs for 2 sets of rears, they seemed to have missed a MAJOR feature. Yes, I'm talking about a digital output. With my setup, it's vital as I do a lot of digital recording. I also think the cosmetic and user interface design is bad. I found the Yamaha's the best.

I am kind of gun shy on Yamaha, after having this problem. I was told by the dealer that he's seen this in all brands though. This isn't a knock against Yamaha. I think I'd like to try something else. I may find I like it better. Show room auditions aren't the best, as a good long, living with it, usage is.

I've read excellent reviews in mags. I've read reviews from consumers that loved it. I read post from owners that loved it. I really haven't read as many bad things about the Elite line, as I've read against Yamaha, Denon, and Onkyo. This somewhat makes me feel good about the upgrade.

Does anyone know of any reasons not to buy it? You know, major things in performance and limitations of use. Thanks!

BTW, I'll be getting it early this morning or around noon, so please post right away. Thanks again!
