RPTV, center channel speaker & shielding ????

I have a 55" Mitsubishi Gold rear projection tv ( RPTV ). I have been using drivers that are "shielded" or make use of "bucking magnets" to help prevent interference. Does anybody know FOR SURE if this is necessary ?
I would like to build a new center channel using unshielded drivers and don't want to run into problems. Since the design that i have in mind has two 10's, two 5 1/4's and a dome tweeter, i would hate to sink that much money into this project to find out it's worthless. Sean
