Re: Direct TV or Dish Network for DD5.1 broadcasting?

I can only comment on Dish Network. The DD5.1 is broadcast on Pay Per View Movies. I have not compared an exact replica of a PPV on Dish with my Toshiba SD5109 DVD. The DD on Dish is certainly discrete. It hooks up to my receiver with an optical cable just fine so it must be digital. If you choosed to go with the Dish network, I would suggest that you get a Dishplayer. It has the DD capability as well as the functionality of a TIVO or REPLAYTV. You can record the DD broadcast PPV for later viewing. Many of the DD broadcast PPV movies are on Dish all day. We usually watch it and then I record it. Watching and recording is almost an impossibility at my house since when we sit down to watch a movie invariably onr of our all long distance relatives call for a chat. The dishplayer makes that a non-event because we can pause and then resume when the telecon is over.

Perhaps someone can help out with the Direct TV broadcasts and the direct A/B comparisons.
