Toshiba 40-inch Rear-Projection HDTV worth it?

Just saw a Toshiba 40-inch rear-projection HDTV for $2400. Considering the high-price of direct-view HDTVs. Is this the way to go? Any opinions?
I liked the picture, but I really wasn't familiar with the source material. Since they stated it had 1120 horizontal scan lines, I guess you would need a progressive DVD output or, at least, a line-doubler to take advantage of the resolution.
Do other direct-view HDTVs come with line-doublers built-in???
