R/F remote A/V system suggestions please

I am looking to set up my home theater equipment in a remote location and would like to be able to control the system with an R/F remote. So far I have found the JVC RX9000VBK and RX1028 However I do not know if they will allow me to change TV channels with the R/F remote. JVC has something called compulink that connects all the components but I don,t know how it works. That is to say if I get a JVC VCR with a built in cable TV reciever will I be able to change channels with it. Or is there any VCR with a R/F remote and TV reciever built in? Or some other better way to set this up?
