I'm confused on what to buy....

component video, s connections,dts,dolby this,pro logic that...aaaarrrrrgggghhhh! Jeez, I just want a simple cheap HT system.
This weekend the misses and myself are shopping for the basic HT stuff. I've listed the price range I'd like to stay within for each component. I'm kinda confused on matching components
32" TV 700 to 800.00,brand prob Sony,Toshiba.
Receiver - around 60 wpc - 350.00 brand not sure yet
DVD - 300.00 brand not sure yet
Speakers - already purchased Energy Take 5 for 300.00 via augiogon , still need sub.
Truthfully we're not into the HT thing. Really buying for the kiddies (17,15 and 13). Will be put into a 10x 15 den.
If some kind soul could recommend a system or inpart some HT wisdom this way, I'd appreciate it much.
