Just thought I would give an update on my HT...

24.7.223.210

A few months back in Jan I set about getting my new HT system. A few people helped me out especially Mart in the speaker forum.

This is what I got... at the end I post my disappointments and what is already broken too (well the Toshiba DVD and the Sony DB930 remote though the latter is only partially non-functional)

Pioneer Elite VSX 26TX receiver
Pioneer Elite 301 DVD disc changer
Toshiba SD 3109 dual DVD player
JVC (okay it is not interesting - just a VCR because all 3 VCRs in my house could not play surround)
Toshiba 27 inch TV (just a stopgap measure since I thought this was the one item where price needed to come down big time)
B&W speakers (ASW2000 sub, 603s front; 601s rear)
Bell Oggetti rack

Gym setup..
Old TV (above TV will be going here soon)
Sony DB 930 receiver
B&W 602s and ASW 1000
small CD player
SW radio for BBC hooked up to speakers so that I can hear above the treadmill din.

Everything works great. Still not satisfied with the speaker setup. I cant figure out what is missing though I have a clue.... I am picky about looks too (unfortunately I am into everything :((
So I have a lot of hardwood, spartan looks, little carpeting... part of the problem.
Other issues. The damn Toshiba broke and I found out that the warranty was only for 90 days. I had barely used it about 5 times since about a week after I got it I found out about the Pioneer 301 disc changer and got that and then did not return this - instead used it as a player of rental DVDs. After just about 10 plays over 8 months it does not work.
Also the remote of the Sony Receiver is a real pain especially when operated by me on a treadmill at 8 mph. Even otherwise it has a delay. Also it has stopped working partially. Since I need it on an everyday basis I dont want to bother returning it.

Any comments appreciated. Hope this helps some newbies like me. Sure it is a waste for the experts here. Thanks for your time.
