The Denon is a fine choice! Congratulations. However. . . I believe that you can get much better speakers for the $. If you like the sound on the Energy, then go ahead. But not before you listen to NHT, KEF, or PSB's! I am just not a big Energy fan, and for the money, you can get much better.

I would put more emphasis on speakers than anything else. If you have to, step down to the AVR-3300, and spend more on speaks. You'll be glad you did. IMO, you should design your system around the speakers, and not the electronics.

For $400, I would get a used Pioneer ElitE DV-05. They are everywhere for around that. Check audiogon.com, or something. If your TV will do progressive scan, then get the new Pioneer progressive scan DVD player, which can be had for $400ish (not the ElitE).
