Re: Best below $500 dvd player.

Hi Bud!! I've been using a Toshiba SD-2200 dvd player for about 8 months now and I really like it. The only thing is that it doesn't play any computer generated discs such as cd-r, cd-rw, etc. I've never had any problems with it, and I do use it a lot. For both cds and dvds, and I play a lot of music and watch a lot of movies. Toshiba was very instrumental in the development of the dvd, so I'd say their products would be a safe bet!!! I have no complaints with it what so ever. It has excellent sound and picture and I like the remote as well, it's solely for the player though, no other functions.
Out of 1 to 10 I'd give it a 10, I have no reason not to, it's an excellent player as far as I can tell. If I were to get another one at this time, I'd go for one that played cd-r and cd-rw, etc. because I ran into a situation where I wish it did play those formats, so their necessity to you is a factor for you to consider. Also, if I were to look for another one at this time, I'd also look into payers with the Nuon feature. Toshiba has one out now, I think it's the 2300, but I could very well be wrong. Check out their website, it's on there. When you do decide on the one you want, check around for prices carefully, I found mine for $250.00 and it's a $350.00 player.
So good luck and happy hunting. Peace SteveF
