Re: DVD Future Technology!

I have to agree with Estes on the audio portion of DVD players. The brands he mentioned excel at the CD audio portion. Everyone agrees that progressive scan 1080i is where video is currently heading.

Audio is going to SACD (Super Audio CD)as was evident at the electronics manufacturer promotions at the CEDIA 2000 show. Most people don't follow the audio portion of the equation as Estes has done. These two technologies are ready to unite in a very impressive merger of DVD/CD technologies. Once the current $1500 (Sony S9000ES) price tags start to come down (and everyone else jumps in). It will make dinosaurs of high end progressive scan DVD players without SACD.

Time to buy in low end or use what you have and wait 12 months.

I encourage everyone to first check compatiblity with your current TV and your projected future TV upgrades before you buy a DVD. There are considerable conflicting issues on video compatibility. Don't take for granted that the brand you are buying based only on generic reviews of a DVD is going to be the same relative to your video needs. Run a search at this site on the TV you own and the one you plan to upgrade to next. Check out other sites as well. Your homework will save a lot of headaches.
