Greenish tint when viewing OTA DTV programs

205.181.240.133

I have just purchased the Samsung TSK3092WF Direct-view wide-screen SDTV and the matching SIR-T100 HDTV set-top decoder box. I have been enjoying the improving TV viewing experience, but have noticed varying degrees of greenish tint to the shadowy areas of picture when viewing DTV programs.

I have so far ruled out nothing, but the problem does not exist when viewing regular TV programs via TV's built-in NTSC tuner or when viewing DVD program connected via composite video.

When viewing DTV channels (in Boston area), however, there is varying amounts of greenish tint in the darker areas of the picture which varies from channel to channel and from program to program (on the same channel). The worst is when viewing true prime-time HDTV programs on CBS network.

Has anyone observed or experienced something similar with the Samsung like equipments? At this point, I am not sure if it's an equipment problem or if the green-ness is actually in the broadcast signal.

I have tried replacing the component video cables and the result is the same. Convergence on the tube is also very good. Adjusting the tint setting on the TV did not really correct the problem.

Regards,

JC, Boston Area
