passive 5.1/6.1 preamp

Is there a 5.1 or 6.1 passive preamp out there that won't leave me eating top ramen? It seems if there is it would be the perfect solution to true hi-fi 2ch/ht. As long as you have outboard processors for everything.
I have been researching the wonderfull world of HT and am trying to intergrate it into a mid-fi 2 ch setup that will become a hi-fi 2 ch at some point. I have looked at the technices sh500d ac-3/dts processor and the vantas, and even using a new 5.1 ready reciever and keeping my existing preamp and using a source selector for my main amp.
