Big spender needs HELP!

My brother in-law is going to spend $15,000 to $30,000 on a home theater system for his home-office which measures a whopping 24' x 18' and is windowless due to its basement location. He wants to avoid the complications of a front-projection CRT, but he would consider LCD, single-chip DLP, Plasma, or a rear projection box for the video. He is also far more a videophile than an audiophile.
Do any of my fellow audio/video fanatics have either video or audio equipmnent recommendations for me to pass on to him. Also if you have used equipment you don't like please pass this on as well.
