Re: Is Anthem AVM-2 Surround Pre/Pro great or just good?

I too tried the B&K REF30 (for $2300 shipped) & it very unfortunately burned up to Fosgate 4200THX amps worth $4k. (this will more than likely forever remain a mystery) Replaced (without changing anything but the processor) with the Anthem AVM2 which works like a charm. Cleaner 2channel/direct bypass operation. Balanced outputs a big plus. Switching surround modes was much smoother. REF30 had more extensive bass mgmt. which I could not really take advantage of w/ Vandersteen 2wq subwoofer setup.Would have saved almost $500 w/REF30 but am much happier w/AVM2 overall. Matching 3 & 5 channel amps are also a bargain (w/balanced inputs to boot). Anthem is also supposed to make a balanced dvd player w/EAU port. Rather have had a Theta or something along that line.(miss circle surround). This will make a great bedroom piece one day.
This system employs a Audio Research LS10 SS/preamp & Music Reference RM200 Tube amp for 2/ch. & integrates w/AVM2 & AVC3 amp. for center & rears. along w/pair Vandy subs (& maybe one more 2wq for the rears. All on Straightwire Crescendo/Blacsilc cables/wires. Pioneer DV37 DVD w/Sony 36XBR400. I owe I owe its off to work I go...
