Surround Speaker Placement - Novice Question

38.161.101.2

I am prewiring my family room (19 X 24). Because of the room setup, the video monitor will be in the corner, and a round viewing couch will be placed (center to video monitor) approx. 10 feet from the monitor. I thought it made sense to place the surround speaker (direct radiating) slightly to the right and left of center (assuming the primary viewer (being me) would sit in the center of the couch) and to the rear. However, the Dolby website suggests otherwise, but for a more square room. Any suggestions/thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!
