Difference between Mitsu Diamond and Platinum TVs

What is the qualitative difference between the Platinum and Diamond series? I looked through the specs and most of it seemed the same. I would prefer to get a 46" (viewing distance is small) which is not avail on the Diamond, but is on the Platinum, but may be convinced to get the 55" if the Diamond series is much better.
Also, how do either of these compare with the Pioneer elite?
