Which Connecters to Use?

24.10.174.32

Just beginning to hook up my HT system. Which outputs yield the best quality?

S-Video?
BNC?
RCA?
AES/EBU?
Toslink?

Heard bad things about S-Video (not sure why).

Gear;

Proceed AVP preamp - AES/EBU & RCA analog ins & outs, S-video & RCA video ins & outs,
BNC composite, RCA composite, AES/EBU, Toslink audio digital ins

RCA 36" direct view - S-video, RCA & coax video ins.

Proceed PMDT DVD transport - BNC, RCA, AES/EBU & Toslink audio digital outs,
S-video, BNC composite, RCA composite video outs

Digital cable - RF in & Out (What's this for?)
coax out
L & R RCA audio ins & outs
RCA video out

Sony SLV-R1000 S-VHS - coax, S-video & RCA

Everything is close together. The longest run is to the TV (8'-10').

Thanx!
Just learning this stuff
Mike
