As a video "newcomer", how important is DTS really?

24.114.102.156

O.K.

I'm a 2 channel tube man by heart.
I realize a "combo" A/V system has been the general advice by all of you to basically stay clear unless you want to exchange 1 expensive hobby for another, so be it.....

I do however, want to put together a system of say $2,000.00 in used gear and I notice there are a lot of "previous generation" receivers out there,at really low prices, ie. Nakamichi DV-8, Denon AVR-1700, etc., that do not endorse the DTS factor.

Tell me truthfully, in a entry level midrange system, am I really going to hear leaps and bounds of difference between DTS and just plain DD?
thanks fo your help, audioman
