s cable connection between notebook & tv monitor

i'm am planning on using the dvd player in my laptop for home video until i get my sony 9000es player. i have been told that i need a S cable to hook the tv to the notebook dvd player. any suggestions as to what cable to purchase? i want to make sure that i can use the cable when i finally switch to the sony DVD player.
