Mitsubishi HDTV reciever prices are way down, is it time to get one?

Hello!
I have a Mitsubishi WS73903 (love it), and I was considering getting the HDTV receiver that goes with it. The local Good Guys have them for sale now at $1,000. The retail used to be $3,000 6 months ago.
Before I buy it, do you know why they are being so heavily discounted? Is it because something better is being released tomorrow? Or if you know of a better price. Thanks, I want to get it before New Years as the Rose Parade is being broadcast in HDTV.
