Mitsubishi WS-73905 (HDTV)

206.97.52.130

Off air HDTV signal isn't yet available around my area and HDTV satellite is still months away from reality. There are a few other HDTV RPTV in the market but none has the size and impact of the Mitsubishi 73" RPTV.

I read that Mitsubishi has a properity HDTV input via Y/Pr/PB plus H/V input with their receiver. Many other receivers currently utilize Y/Pr/PB or RGB connections, line doublers inclusive. I wonder if one can use receivers other than Mitsubishi's own? I know Mitsubishi's receiver must be integrated with their receiver via a special communication port, but what is the H/V connection for? Is this connection essential? If so, does receivers from other manufacture offer this connection?

If Y/Pr/PB and H/V signal are universal, could it be possible to improve regular NTSC sources via external line doublers/quadruplers? If so, it could be possible to retain this set's HDTV capability while further improving NTSC sources.

Thanks in advance for your enlightments.

Best Regards
