Layer Changes - UPDATE!

139.142.6.118

Well I was able to test out some Sony DVD players on this problem at the Sony Store using the 2 Dual-Layered DVDs I own: Aliens and Ghostbusters. There is good news and bad news. First, the bad news: all Sony DVD players were unable to eliminate the pause during the layer change (including the 7700). The good news: The layer changes all happened in between scenes, in spots where the change is very low-key, and it's very hard to notice. (The DVD FAQ gives incorrect times where the layer changes are, which is why I thought that at least Aliens had a change in the middle of a conversation). Also, all Sony decks took about 1/4 second to switch layers, which is negligible for scene changes like these.

So I guess my new question is, do all Dual-Layered discs have layer changes this low-profile, or are there some out there that do in fact break at the worst possible time?
