You could make this a simple EE project and make a set of relays connected to either a very simple microcontroller (simple to program, hard to get the EEPROM burner) or an even simpler CR timer circuit. Or just use a 555 timer to turn the juice on.Sounds like fun to me. If I had 5 amps I'd build it (or try... I don't even have my wire-wrapping tools anymore, sigh).
