I have a Hitachi VCR and I love it for its playback..but the tuner section does leave a little to be desired. I rarely use the tuner section so thats not why i bought it. Mine performs flawlessy recording off of clean sources such as DSS and movies sound great. If you plan on using the tuner alot you may want to shop elswhere, but if you are primarily going to use it for movies, i can highly recommend it
