Re: noise/hum from TV

Racerguys suggestion is good and will usually work fine, but if you can still hear some hum as I did at one house I lived in, you should go to where the cable enters your house and see if it is properly grounded to your houses main circuit-breaker box. Proper grounding should remove most to all of the problem. If you are in an apartment or condo or can't ground the incoming line properly then the ground isolater is the next best thing. Many splitters ( look down two items on the linked page ) have a hole with a bolt to tighten down a ground wire which you run to your houses main ground. It is best to get rid of the cause of the problem instead of the band-aid, if possible.
