That's why I said 480i via an analog output should eliminate the affects of the Faroudja processing. Every output from the HDMI port and the 480p analog output (via the component output) uses the Faroudja processing and is subject to the macroblocking bug (to some extent).

I can't remember if the S97's HDMI port will allow 480i, but even if it does the display must be able to handle a 480i digital input (and most can't).
