Home Video Asylum

TVs, VCRs, DVD players, Home Theater systems and more.

You were supposed to get that free satellite dish installation which included

free HD DVR and HD satellite box (perhaps combined). I imagine you'd have to hook up either DVI, IEEE1394 and/or component output to your DVR for recording, while simultaneously feeding the video to your display. Actually, I'm clueless on the capabilities of DVR; I don't know of anyone who uses IEEE1394 except Apple computers, some digital camcorders and cable boxes. DVI/HDMI seems to be the rule nowadays. I'm not big on video recording anymore but given the lack of HD programming and not always being around to watch it IS starting to get annoying...

I suspects you'll need to spend more than $425 (yuck, yuck) on DVR and/or video switching gizmo to get what you are probably looking for......
