I bet most folks assume you will be sending digital audio to a receiver/prepro

in which case the DVD player's audio performance is a non-player. In my case, I'm very interested in the DVD player's audio performance since I'm using the DVD player's DACs for multichannel SACD playback via an analog MC preamp/switcher.

I'm also contemplating the idea that serious music playback can be done better with a source not constrained by support for DVD-V playback (and associated video circuitry "messiness" . I.e. separate sources for both DVD-V and SACD/CD playback would be the ideal.
