Best DVD-R discs

I bought a Toshiba D-R2 DVD recorder on eBay the other day. It's a DVD-R/RW machine and I'd appreciate my fellow inmates recommendations as to the best brands of discs to use. I've done a lot of editing to VHS and want to preserve my work on DVD.
