DVD+-RW

DVD+RW is a little more resistant to problems while burning, and has a couple other nice features that DVD-RW doesn't have.

DVD-RW, being an older technology, is playable in more home DVD drives. Only the most recent standalone DVD players can read DVD+R media.

Of course, if you're buying a standalone DVD recorder, and you don't care about sharing your DVD's, DVD+R is fine.
