Rotel and Sunfire

I guess you get what you pay for.

I owned a $2000 Rotel Pre-pro and before that the $600 Rotel processor.

It was better than any $2,000 receiver that I compared it to.

I then compared it to a Sunfire Theater Grand Pre-pro. Far more dynamic and clean, with more options. But it cost me about a thousand more than the Rotel.

My son bought a 5 channel Rotel about 6 months ago. I think it cost about $1000-$1200, but I'm not sure. Did come close to the clarity and dynamics of my 15 year old PSE stereo amps that listed for about $1000 each. He returned it and now recognizes that he needs to spend more than $1200.

I've read good things about Parasound, but have never tried one.

My one recommendation is that if you're interested in video switching, don't buy anything unless it has at least 3 hdmi inputs. You may need to wait for this.
